Massive underground tunnels dating back 12,000 years exist and stretch from Scotland to Turkey.

Researchers have uncovered mysterious tunnels in Scotland that reach all the way to Turkey, but they have no idea why or how they were built. What makes them even more mysterious is how magnificent they are and how painstakingly they were made.

Scientists are baffled by the number of Stone Age subterranean tunnels discovered. The tunnels had been excavated under literally hundreds of Neolithic communities throughout Europe, according to Dr. Henrich Kusch’s book “Secrets of the Underground Door to an Ancient World.” The fact that they have lasted for almost 12,000 years demonstrates that the original tunnels were much larger.

He also believes that the tunnels were intended to serve as roads, allowing people to travel to far-flung locations across Europe.

‘There were hundreds of these tunnels across Europe, from the north in Scotland to the Mediterranean,’ he continues. They’re interlaced with nooks, and some of them are bigger, with seats or storage chambers and rooms. Although they do not all connect, they form a vast underground network.’

‘We have discovered 700 meters of underground tube networks in Bavaria, Germany.’ We discovered 350 meters in Styria, Austria,’ he claimed.

‘There were hundreds of them all throughout Europe, from Scotland’s north to the Mediterranean.’

‘Most aren’t much bigger than giant wormholes – just 70cm wide, broad enough for a human to squeeze through but not much more.’

‘They are interlaced with nooks, some of which are bigger and include sitting, as well as storage chambers and rooms.’

‘They don’t all connect, but combined, they form a gigantic underground network.’

While some have referred to the tunnels as ancient roads, others have claimed that they were used to shield men from predators. Dr. Henrich notes in his book that churches were frequently erected around tunnel openings because the Church was terrified of the pagan heritage that the tunnels could have symbolized and wished to counteract their effect.

On several continents, similar tunnels have been unearthed. A number of ancient tunnels have been discovered in the Americas. The main question is why these tunnels were built in the first place. What’s more, how were they put together? While there are several legends around them, scholars have failed to find any definitive explanations.
