Last year, the neurotechnology company specializing in the development of implantable brain-computer interfaces, founded by Elon Musk, presented the first advances of its technology. Now, Elon Musk has given other interesting details about a certain technology that will allow people to control smartphones with mind.
“First, the product will allow someone with paralysis to use a smartphone with their mind faster than someone who uses their thumbs,” he wrote on his Twitter account highlighting the mitigating function and benefits it will offer to people with various disabilities or neurodegenerative diseases.
“Later versions will be able to derive signals from Neuralinks in the brain to Neuralinks in groups of motor / sensory neurons in the body, thus allowing, for example, paraplegics to walk again,” he added.
And the next step, according to Musk, is to achieve the fusion between man and machine, something that will not only solve the problems already mentioned but also function as an enhancer of the powers of our mind, even reaching a “Consensual telepathy” among those who implant these devices in the brain.
Most amazing of all, when we get to the point that this technology is available and accessible — and affordable — to the public, no one will be able to tell with the naked eye.
“The device is implanted flush with the skull and charges wirelessly, so you look and feel totally normal,” Musk concluded in his thread.
